WHY ONLINE SEXUAL HARASSMENT?
The last nationwide survey conducted on sexual harassment took place in 2010. It’s irrelevant and outdated. It does not even include or recognize online sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is not a new issue, but it is evolving with new technological advancements and we are yet to keep up. Even though online sexual harassment occurs to a lot of people, especially women, locally and globally, it is severely underadressed. Many even see it as nothing more than a nuisance. This conception of online harassment is largely due to the fact that it is not physical, and relatively easier to evade. “Just block '' most people would say, but the psychological and social consequences go much deeper. Our project is an attempt at showcasing the true breadth of the problem and amount a sense of solidarity among victims.
